Analysis of The Log Loading Process for the Optimization

Abstrak

The loading of logs is an essential activity in ship operations that requires proper planning,\r\nstowage, cargo securing, and stability control. On MV. Cosmo Gloria, log-loading operations are\r\nparticularly complex because cargo is stowed both inside the cargo holds (under deck) and on the\r\nweather deck (on deck), while being influenced by weather conditions, crew competency,\r\nequipment readiness, and cargo-securing arrangements. This study aims to analyze the log-loading\r\nprocess, identify factors that hinder loading operations, and determine optimization measures to\r\nimprove the operational efficiency of MV. Cosmo Gloria. The study employs a qualitative approach\r\nusing field research. Data were collected through observations, interviews with the Master, Chief\r\nOfficer, Bosun, Able Seamen, and Ordinary Seamen, documentation, and literature review, and\r\nwere subsequently analyzed descriptively. The results indicate that log loading involves planning,\r\ncargo-hold preparation, under-deck and on-deck loading, center lashing, and over lashing. The\r\nmain obstacles include adverse weather conditions, limited crew competency, insufficient\r\nunderstanding of lashing equipment, and changes in ship stability during loading. The study\r\nconcludes that well-planned and integrated loading operations can reduce delays and improve\r\noperational efficiency. It is recommended that crew training, stability monitoring, equipment\r\nmaintenance, coordination among involved parties, and consistent implementation of the Cargo
